What exactly does an executive assistant do?

An executive assistant handles the operational and administrative tasks that consume your time — inbox management, diary scheduling, client communication, invoicing, CRM updates, and more. At Office Boss, we also include HR consultancy, which most EA services don't offer. Think of us as your back-office team, without the cost of hiring in-house.

How is Office Boss different from other VA services?

Three things set us apart. First, we include HR expertise (Associate CIPD-qualified) as standard — so contracts, policies, and employee issues are covered. Second, we specialise in supporting founders in financial services, property, and professional sectors. Third, we don't just complete tasks — we think ahead, anticipate problems, and become a genuine part of your team.

How much does executive support cost?

Our packages start from £350 per month for 10 hours, scaling up to £1,575 for 45 hours. Our hourly rate starts from £35. We offer flexible contracts — you can scale up or down as your business needs change. We also offer VA VIP Days for one-off intensive support.

Are you actually based in the UK?

Yes, 100%. Our entire team is based in the UK. We're headquartered in Chelmsford, Essex, and serve clients across Essex, London, and the wider UK. No offshore teams, no language barriers, no time zone issues.

Do I need to commit to a long-term contract?

We offer flexible contracts that allow you to scale your hours up or down as your business needs change. We believe in earning your loyalty through exceptional work, not locking you into rigid terms.

Can you help with HR issues?

Absolutely. Our founder Kathryn Selvey is Associate CIPD-qualified, so HR consultancy is built into what we do. We can help with employee contracts, company policies, dispute management, documentation, and compliance guidance.

How do you communicate with clients?

However works best for you. Most clients use a combination of email, phone, and messaging apps. We adapt to your preferred way of working — the goal is to make communication as seamless as possible.

What's a VA VIP Day?

A VA VIP Day is a full day of concentrated support dedicated entirely to your business. It's perfect for clearing backlogs, setting up new systems, organising your inbox, or tackling a specific project.

How quickly can you start?

Usually within a few days of your consultation. We'll have an initial conversation to understand your business and what you need, then we'll put together a plan and get started. Most clients are up and running within a week.

Will my clients know I'm using a VA?

Not unless you want them to. We integrate so seamlessly with your business that your clients and stakeholders won't know the difference. We answer calls in your company name, use your email systems, and communicate in your brand voice.

What if I only need a few hours a month?

Our smallest package starts at 10 hours per month at £350. It's perfect for ongoing diary, email, and client support. You can always scale up later as your needs grow.
